Whew.  These last few pics makes me ACHE for the road...

The May 2011 Film fest has been cancelled, presumably due to the recent terrible wild fire.
Thankfully, no one was killed.
I hope to see this beautiful place for myself soon!

Backstage Models wearing Fur darling -LaceyDU

Salut!!
The Austin Tx Renegade Craft Fair is coming up!  I'll be there with my CoyPU Collection featuring the fur of the Nutria (Coypu = Nutria!).  The CoyPu Collection: my designs made out of this guilt-free fur.  The Nutria is an invasive, destructive species, whose wetland-plant-root eating habit is exacerbating coastal land lost in the Gulf States.  yikes.  (a portion of my sales goes to coastal restoration projects!)

New Orleans Fashion Week featured Righteous Fur (a collective I'm a part of that is made up of designers who use the fur of nutria!) as part of their annual runway show, and I would like to feature some backstage photos of models wearing some of my CoyPU Collection creations!  Yes, Fashion Week in NOLA was ages ago, but I forgot to post these!

I'll be at the Austin, TX Renegade Craft Fair with my CoyPU Collection onMay 21 and 22nd.

Grecian Bookstore Oasis perched on the edge of ze world!

Years ago I travelled to Greece and stumbled upon Atlantis Bookstore, seemingly on the edge of the world.  The bookstore was on Santorini, one of the Cyclades Greek Isles.  Well, I meant to look for a place to sleep for the night, but ended up staying on and on... reading and gazing at the sunset, pretty much the most incredible sunset, sheeeesh!
I had to share this incredible place, with this lovely video below that I hope inspires us all to
travel
seek
roam
explore
whatever word kicks you in the gut
just go!

I added a few pics and of course, added the location (j'adore geography) and how this crazy amazing caldera of a oasis was formed (j'adore geology) and a necklace I made that is inspired by the lava rock of  many isles everywhere...

Local Food and Community Supported Agriculture

Local Food is the answer.
I've spent years teaching this; if we ate local many of our 'modern' woes would vanish.
yep.
Recently, Earthshare Gardens, a CSA I helped start, had a fundraiser!  CSA is: Community Supported Agriculture, basically local subscription farming.
Well, I wanted to share a piece I donated for the auction, as well as add that: Spring is here, buy a share from your local CSA!  If you've never considered it, all the more reason to try, you'll save time, money, gas, money, and your health.  yum.
Plus, the more people supporting the "Creative Class" (Google this, it is a great argument presented by Richard Florida) means you're helping out your area, both economically and culturally.  And farmers and arts markets are breeding grounds for those who support the Creative Class.
My piece below has bits of local alligator skin and was inspired by garden rain.
Merci bien!
